Reaching children in war : Sudan, Uganda, and Mozambique
Published in Unknown Binding by Sigma Forlag ; Scandinavian Institute of African Studies ()
Average review score:

Their work is explicit to the needs of a whole continent!Cole P. Dodge lent a positive about-face to the reputation of UNICEF, especially in East Africa, during the uneasy decade of the 80s. There is quite possibly no other healthcare/development leader that has achieved so much in the name of an entire continent--Africa. All of his books should be atop the must-read list of Governmental and Non-Governmental healthcare agency professionals alike. Raundelen has taken a keen interest in child psychology issues, to include the impact of war and violence upon children, among the most at-risk to war, and child soldiers. This Norwegian is a leading expert in the field.

Reading & Responding to Literature
Published in Paperback by International Thomson Publishing (November, 1997)
Average review score:

It is a priceless resource in writing literature papers.

Readings on the Development of Children
Published in Paperback by W H Freeman & Co. (December, 1997)
Average review score:

Excellent supplement to an outstanding text.Gauvain and Cole's "Readings on the Development of Children-3d Edition" is an excellent supplement to an outstanding text. Where so many "workbook" type supplements are little more than an encapsulation of material already covered in the main text, "Readings..." is a collection of classic and contemporary articles that provides an excellent springboard for discussion in graduate level seminars.
I especially like the fact that each reading is followed by discussion questions that encourage studentts to think more broadly about key concepts.

Ready,Set,Read-And Laugh! Is a hit! This is the first book my 10 year old has picked up and read--just for the absolute joy of reading. We enjoyed this book very much! It's for early-beginner readers, but is a book that everyone can enjoy!

Real Analysis and Probability (Wadsworth & Brooks/Cole Mathematics Series)
Published in Hardcover by CRC Press (March, 1989)
Average review score:

Back in Print! This book was out of print for a few years, but Cambridge Univ Press has issued a revised edition. This is my favorite book for real analysis, measure theory, and probability theory. The book is very self-contained and rigorous, and develops probability theory abstractly enough for advanced work in the field. If you are interested in empirical process theory, this text can be followed by Dudley's book on Uniform Central Limit Theorems.

Rediscovering Illinois: Archaeological Explorations in the Around Fulton County
Published in Paperback by University of Chicago Press (November, 1975)
Average review score:

Rediscovering Illinois: Archaeological Explorations...CountyA must have for anyone wishing to participate in the archaeology of Illinois and to better understand the development of archaeology in America, this publication covers the pioneering archaeological investigations of the University of Chicago in the Central Illinois River Valley undertaken during the early 1930's. It presents the results of the first scientific, problem oriented, archaeological exploration to be undertaken in the eastern U.S., the undertaking that set the stage for a new era of archaeological thinking. So innovative and important was this early work that the University of Chicago field school project in Fulton County has come to be considered by many as the Birthplace of American Archaeology. The roster of students attending these early field schools contained the names of a plethora of individuals who would later form the backbone of American archaeology. Among these were Braidwood, Cross, Driver, Jennings, Nash, Setzler, Brew, DeJarnette, Eggan, Morgan, Neumann, Walker, and James B. Griffin. Thus, this publication is valuable not only as a historical document, but it set forth a model for prehistoric cultural sequences for the Illinois region that remains functional eight decades later.

Remembered Laughter: The Life of Noel Coward. Orig Pub in Great Britain Under Title: Life of Noel Coward
Published in Hardcover by Random House (November, 1976)
Average review score:

THE best read on Cowardfrom the title (marvelous!) on, this older (1976) book remains the best read on Noel Coward around. It's all here, consumately engaging, lovingly presented, with dignity, style, charm and all the other positive things that the incomparable Mr. Coward possessed. It's the sort of book one reads again and again and continues to capture the essence of Coward.

Richard and Sabina
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (04 April, 2001)
Average review score:

A Slice Of HistoryThe Reverend Richard Wurmbrand liked to say, "Love is the best of ways." Perhaps it was that belief, that hope, that gave Reverend Wurmbrand, and his wife, Sabina, the strength to carry on in the face of brutal persecution in the prisons of Romania by, first, the Nazis and later, the Communists.
In Richard and Sabina, poet and biographer, Jack Cole has given us not only a glimpse into the lives of two Jews who converted to Christianity and endured an enormous test of their faith, but also an addition to history's terrible account of the horrors of Nazism and Soviet-era Communism.
Their story is worth the telling; well worth the reading. These are courageous people. On Jack Cole's pages, they come alive.
